Artist Bio
A.J. Wood is an artist with a 20 year career in art direction and graphic design. He is also classically trained in all areas of the fine arts. A.J. loves to paint things that interest him. He sees art as a tool for exploration. Through his artistic endeavors he learns about new things and stays close to the subjects that he enjoys. One of those subjects in sports. He has been commissioned to do painted portraits of many hall of fame athletes. His largest work is a 15 foot mural of Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino. That piece is on display in Marino's restaurant at Hooter's Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. He also recently completed a commissioned artwork depicting Erik Buell, founder and president of Buell motorcycles, riding to a win at Daytona.
 
Working with various athletes inspired A.J. to artistically capture the spirit that motivates sports fans. The mascot is where fans find their common identity. His treatment of sports mascots as the subject of fine art paintings is unprecedented. His mascot paintings eclipse the traditional mascot clip art that fans have become bored with. Sports fans went crazy over these works. Especially collectors who were looking for the ultimate way to express their school spirit.
 
A.J. continues to pursue various artistic subjects and he is currently working on a substantial number of hot mascots for the upcoming year.
